What Do You Need To Become A Mental Health Counselor

What Do You Need To Become A Mental Health Counselor – This winter we are looking for 50 people to volunteer to be a Mental Health Buddy in Sheffield.

The scheme, which is part of the Tackling Inequalities in Mental Health Project, is simple – finding volunteers to be supportive friends to people who have experienced challenges in their mental health. Basically we think that relationships can help bring about health and wellness. Let me explain…

What Do You Need To Become A Mental Health Counselor

We all have tricks and ways to get through the bumps in the road and the times when life seems hard and unfair. More often than not, that plan will involve the help of another person. But what happens if that support is not available to you?

How To Admit Yourself To A Psychiatric Hospital

We want to get 50 people to volunteer for this scheme. You can show interest now. There is no obligation but you will receive more and be invited to apply. We are looking for kind people who care about this issue and want to help. You don’t need to have previous experience or skills, just the compassion that comes from wanting to help someone else. We are looking for adults (Over 18) of all ages, ethnicities and backgrounds to participate.

We will arrange to chat with you, talk about the project in more detail and invite you to join.

We will then train you in Mental Health First Aid and provide you with a supportive network through Space to Breathe. Training starts in January and will include two Saturday mornings, homework followed by a 1:1 session.

Over time and once the training is complete, we will connect you with someone who will support you. This will be done in a safe and easy way through our Social Cafe or other measures. Ways to contact your Buddy and help them when you can will be managed. All of this will be done alongside existing Mental Health support in the city and the services and care the person is already receiving. Your role is to offer friendship and the kind of support that comes with a cup of tea and the knowledge that someone is there.

Maybe you can download the flyer and share it on social media or share this article. We need as many people as possible to get involved.

Finally to find out more about the project and find out more details visit our Tackling Inequality page on this website.

The project is a partnership between Space to Breathe, Sheffield Community Forensic Team, Sheffield Flourish, SADACCA and Faithstar. We are very grateful for this partnership and the work we can do together. It is important to recognize the role that the Coronavirus plays in our mental health. The current situation can cause mental health problems in many different ways:

We all experience major changes in our lives. For many, social distancing can be tiring or stressful. People will find that their feelings and emotions are affected and they will feel low, anxious or have trouble sleeping.

Signs You’re A Perfectionist (and Why It’s Toxic To Your Mental Health)

In times like these, it can be easy to fall into unhealthy patterns of behavior that can make you feel bad.

There are simple things you can do to help, stay mentally and physically active during this time and relieve stress such as:

Pick up the phone or video call your family and friends. It is normal to feel sad, stressed, confused, scared or angry during a difficult time. Talking about your feelings to people you trust and listening to how they feel will really help.

Right now it’s easy to get overwhelmed by watching the news 24/7 or clicking on every new article on social media related to the corona virus but it can be information overload and not good for your mental health. Try to limit the number of reports you watch or news posts you read.

So try not to worry about what you can’t control and focus on what you can. Look after yourself and each other. Prioritizing mental health has never been more important than now. Making positive changes can seem overwhelming, especially in uncertain times, and sometimes it can be difficult to know where to start. Here are some tips to help you maintain your mental health:
