The Peloton name is as synonymous with at-home workouts as any fitness brand. Its stationary bike remains hugely popular, and while it’s not the first to introduce connected fitness equipment, Peloton has still managed to build a very loyal following.

You may also be familiar with the brand’s signature workout. Enthusiastic and energetic trainers lead a sweat-drenched workout, which streams to the equipment’s onboard monitor, while a rider’s output stats spill across the screen, acting as a mock leaderboard. This is about as high-octane as live-streamed workouts get.

But bike owners with Peloton’s All-Access membership aren’t the only ones who can enjoy those workouts. Thanks to a $13-a-month Peloton Digital membership, anyone with a smartphone, tablet or web browser can stream classes across 10 categories, including HIIT, meditation, dance and running. I’ve compiled the following guide on everything there is to know about Peloton Digital Membership, from creating a profile and accessing classes to a breakdown of each class category.

Peloton offers 10 different fitness categories, each with its own variety of workouts. Here is each category with a few classes listed:

Strength: The Strength tab specializes in full-body and muscle-specific exercise routines of various durations. In 10-, 20-, or 30-minute sessions, users can choose exercises such as arms and shoulders strength, arms toning, full body strength, and bodyweight strength. Classes indicate whether they need weights, mats, or another type of workout equipment before class begins.

Yoga: Peloton’s yoga section offers 10-, 20-, 30-, and 45-minute sessions, focusing on full-body flow and power yoga routines, as well as body-specific classes like Yoga Flow: Hips or Yoga Flow: Core.

Meditation: From breathing and sleep exercises to healing and energizing, meditation classes come in 5-, 10-, 15-, and 20-minute sessions. It’s a great pre- or post-workout supplement.

Cardio: The Cardio tab primarily offers 10-, 15-, and 20-minute HIIT classes. Some require a yoga mat and dumbbells, but any class that requires equipment lists what is needed before starting. Peloton also added a new Dance Cardio series accessible via the Cardio tab, which includes 5-minute warm-up and cooldown routines or full-length 20-minute classes.

Stretching: Each stretching class is either 5 or 10 minutes long and focuses on flexibility routines such as post-ride, full body, post-run and warm-up stretching. It’s great to do before or after any workout.

Cycling: Peloton’s cycling classes come in 20-, 30-, 45-, and 60-minute sessions and offer riders everything from music-specific routines like a pop ride or hip hop ride to a more intense climb ride or HIIT ride.

Outdoor: As the name suggests, these exercises take people outdoors. Whether it’s a 45-minute power walk session, a 20-minute HIIT run, or a 20-minute pop fun walk, the idea is to let yourself sweat outside. All these classes are audio based.

Running: You don’t have to own a Peloton Tread to enjoy the brand’s running workouts. The app gives subscribers access to 10-, 20-, 30-, 45-, and 60-minute running routines designed for use on any treadmill. There are music-heavy runs like the EDM Fun Run and duration-specific classes like the Endurance Run.

Walking: If you’re in the mood for a low-key workout, the Walking tab has you covered. Walking allows users to choose between walk/run routines, power walking sessions, and incline-heavy hike classes in 20-, 30-, and 45-minute classes.

Bootcamp: Peloton takes popular bootcamp-style classes that provide an intense full-body workout using a combination of treadmill, weights and mat work. Classes are offered in either 30-, 45-, or 60-minutes.

Yoga For Kids

Dance: The latest addition to the brand’s class is its dance sessions. These are available in 5- to 20-minute sessions and usually have at least two instructors leading them at the same time.

A valid membership is first required to access the classes, which costs $13 per month after Peloton’s 30-day free trial. Once you sign up, you can download the Peloton app on any iOS, Android, or Amazon Fire-compatible device, including smartphones, tablets, computers, and TVs.

The Base landing page offers a real-time view of any live or upcoming classes, what time they stream, the instructor leading the course, and what category they fall into (cycling, strength, etc.). If you want to join the class, click the “Count Me In” button.

Below the upcoming schedule are links to each section where all previously recorded classes can be accessed. Once you click on a class type you want to explore, each category is listed above for easy navigation.

The landing page has tabs showing the week’s upcoming live stream schedule and active challenges. These are community-wide events that allow you to participate with other Peloton members, and can be anything from monthly special challenges that require you to work out 5+ days a week to classes that help you develop healthy habits. You can also view any upcoming and completed challenges.

Although it’s not mandatory to use the Peloton app or stream classes, creating a profile helps make your Peloton experience more personal. The Profile Dashboard provides quick access to your fitness profile, which includes information such as how many other members you follow and who follows you, as well as classes you’ve taken and achievements you’ve achieved.

The links at the top of the dashboard let you take a closer look at your fitness profile. The Workout tab also lists other details like class type, instructor, and specific exercise routine as you complete each class you complete. Below each class section is a running counter to let you know how many of each specific class type you have completed.

The Achievements tab is where you’ll find all the badges you’ve earned during your workouts. They vary depending on the different classes, but examples of some include:

Peloton Yoga Basics And Review

The profile dashboard lets you share workouts, invite other users to classes, find new Peloton friends, and sync your Facebook account.

Peloton’s digital membership class library can be intimidating at first, and it may seem easy to just pick the same three or four workouts you’re most comfortable with and rinse and repeat. But the app’s strength is its variety of classes, and it’s worth switching up your routine to keep the workouts fresh and see better results.

That’s why I recommend taking a 60-minute bootcamp class one day and a 20-minute meditation course the next. Find a schedule that works best for you to try new workouts and join new classes. You can do this even on a small scale by trying out new trainers in classes you’re already familiar with.

There is too much content in the app not to try a little bit of everything. As at-home fitness continues to grow in popularity, the variety offered by a Peloton Digital membership allows workouts to feel like an expected chore and more each day.

Online Fitness Programs: Which Online Fitness Membership Subscriptions Are Worth The Money?

Peloton’s Tread treadmill is the brand’s latest connected machine release, and it’s seen its fair share of coverage, good and bad, since its debut — and some running classes available through a Peloton digital membership require the use of a tread.

A natural progression from the Peloton, the Tread is a high-end treadmill outfit with a few of the brand’s signatures: a large, on-board touchscreen for streaming classes, practical design features that enhance the user experience, and the ability to do more. Cardio exercises only. The Tread first appeared in Peloton’s brick-and-mortar fitness studios, where people could sign up for in-person classes, and the brand then made it available to purchase for at-home use.

But as more people bought them for their home gyms, problems began to arise, the most significant of which was the death of a child in March 2021. Peloton issued a statement urging all Tread users to stay away from the machine at all times. They recommended unplugging it completely when not in use.

Additional accidents, which included third-degree burns in children and adults, prompted regulators to push Peloton to issue an official recall. Initially decided against but finally launched the brand
