During the actual labor (which was very fast, very intense and painful) my husband and I were so close together that we even joked when I dilated the last inch. Our midwife was amazed and touched and said she had never seen anything like us before. She even decorated a blanket for our newborn and sent us a gift, which she said was so touching to be a part of our birth experience.

I believe preparation is key and should be prepared together if possible! Being prepared takes some of the anxiety out of it, and being completely fearless despite the pain is the key to a good birth experience. Of course, there are no guarantees. But preparation for a very strange situation like childbirth is very important.

When I joke with my children, I sometimes tell them to leave the virtual world and enter the “meat world”; i.e. where people are. Flesh and blood. Obviously, an online prenatal course can’t give you that. It doesn’t allow you to try laughing gas, hug a midwife, or sit in a hospital bed. But it can (and should) give you other important things:

Here are four high-quality prenatal classes. Two of them are comprehensive, but with a slightly different focus, and both offer techniques to prepare your body, mind, and relaxation tools for labor.

So I’d say you don’t need both of the top two classes, but you can easily pick one and combine it with one or both of the bottom two classes that focus on body, mind, and relaxation techniques.

It’s important to know โ€“ they all have a money-back guarantee, so you can check them out and decide if they fit your needs.

Another important thing is that they are all taught by certified midwives, doulas, birth nurses and yoga teachers. They are ready to help you!

The Childbirth Institute’s online course is designed for mothers-to-be who want to learn all about natural childbirth. This is not your typical hospital class. It includes practical material on everything from birthing positions, natural childbirth comfort and pain management to possible interventions for the baby.

I really like the course material and direction, and I’m not alone. Reviews are great and can be seen at the Online Birthing Institute. The course has also been featured in Fit Pregnancy โ€“ with good reason! Teacher Kathryn is a childbirth educator and author who is also on the Advisory Board of the International Academy of Baby Planning Professionals.

Complex Online Prenatal Course

Pregnant women who learn the skills and techniques needed to ensure a comfortable, safe birth experience and smooth recovery without the hassle and expense of traditional childbirth classes.

This is the first online prenatal class that is truly couples oriented. It’s weird that I haven’t seen this before, because of course this is how a childbirth class should go (if you two are expecting a baby together.) Hilary, the creator of the course, is a birth nurse, so she knows what she’s talking about.

As well as walking you through the birthing process, it also provides clear answers to questions you may be thinking about but don’t want to ask anyone, such as

Best Online Birthing Classes: How To Find The Right Fit

I highly recommend Hilary’s online childbirth class. If you have a little money, you can choose its basic edition, which contains an e-book with a lot of knowledge to prepare for childbirth. In her other packages, she also offers video content and a private Facebook group, which is great because you can reach out to her personally to ask questions about your pregnancy and birth preparation!

Every pregnant woman and her birth partner! It doesn’t matter how early or late the pregnancy is. Although not good, if you study hard, you can finish the course in a weekend. You’ll be much better off than if you hadn’t studied at all!

Being an internet person, I like the online course available in versions 2 and 3. I like the videos there too. But if this course is too expensive for you, I think the Fundamentals version is very good value for money!

I’m not so sure about the Online Course version compared to the Delux version, even though the information and tips are great. I love the idea of โ€‹โ€‹connecting with others, the couple workbook, and the opportunity to get one-on-one help so much that I think they’re worth paying for.

I think online childbirth classes are a great option. I have to admit that private lessons were the only option at the time (since the internet was still new when I started L&D)

Childbirth Class: Ready, Set, Go!

Online courses allow you to fit them into your busy schedule, take them at your own pace (and review information if needed), and actually do them. Reviewing information helps you retain the information you want to know.

Back in 2014, when I took my online course, there wasn’t much online education about childbirth, but the area has really grown into a lot of options. They make excuses that you couldn’t find it or couldn’t fit it into your schedule.

As a first-time parent, this gives you plenty of time to digest the information and even review what you think is necessary. Second time parents
