Online Dog Obedience Classes

Online Dog Obedience Classes – During COVID and shelter-at-home, you jumped first into online dog training, offering one-on-one and group classes via Zoom, and finding other ways to keep your income while in-person services were banned. Now, as the world slowly reopens, you realize you’ve enjoyed some of the benefits of online training and aren’t ready to let it go.

If you are trying to decide whether to provide online dog training long term or have decided to continue to provide online dog training services then this article is for you.

Online Dog Obedience Classes

When adding online services as a way to categorize your business during COVID, you may just have picked something up and kept using it. If you’re now working on adding these services long-term, it’s time to re-evaluate the decisions you made quickly at the time.

Once you know if you want to work one-on-one or with multiple students at the same time, you need to decide whether you prefer to work with them – where you can see them and provide feedback in real time – or if you want to work through some kind of video review process with them. You can even choose to offer the option of information flowing only one way…you publish the information without offering any opportunity for censorship.

Most dog trainers during COVID are choosing to offer private or group lessons in real time via Zoom (or other similar platforms). This mode is most like face-to-face dog training, so most clients and trainers feel comfortable.

However, there are many trainers who have successfully used a model where students submit assignments and then they get feedback later (for example, the Finzi Dog Sports Academy uses this model to train silver and gold students). Self-paced courses, where you post information but don’t offer any comment options, have many interesting benefits, such as scalability and the potential for passive income – but may require more up-front investment to create content.

Then there are options for creating hybrid models – for example, Michael Shikashio shared some of his behavioral examples starting with face-to-face and then transitioning to a video review model.

Once you’ve chosen the types of services you want to offer and the way you want to offer them, you still need to figure out the specific tools you want to use, and then decide on the details of the online topics and issues the service will cover.

We’ve written about our recommended hardware (cameras, microphones, etc.) before, so in this post, I’ll focus on the online platforms you can use to communicate with students.

Zoom is by far the most popular option for live classes or classes, and it allows you and your clients to share a live video feed at the same time, so you can demonstrate and see your dog as they work.

Zoom offers a free plan, which can be a good option if you only offer private lessons – however, if you go with the free option, it limits group calls to 40 minutes. Paid plans start at $14.99 per month with the Pro plan, which for most dog trainers will include all the features of a group or individual class. Click here to view zoom or register.

Facebook groups seem to be the most popular option for dog trainers who want to offer lessons with limited or delayed feedback. This may be because there aren’t many options for you to publish course content at the same time

If you decide to look for alternatives, be aware that many online teaching platforms aim to create self-study-only courses (lessons without homework review). You need to specifically find a platform that offers forums or discussion functions.

Luckily, most of the options out there offer free trial runs – I recommend creating content for 2-3 lessons, then doing a trial run with a few options, setting up your classroom for students to test before making a final decision .

If you want to offer a course that doesn’t actually require you to review assignments regularly or provide real-time feedback, you will need to decide whether you plan to run the course in a group (a one-time enrollment group, share a start date, and then receive course information at the same time) or Rolling enrollment (students sign up at any time and then receive stuff on a one-time or “drip” schedule depending on when they sign up). In either case, there are plenty of options.

Can I Train My Dog Online

The simplest model is to offer email lessons. By using the email marketing program that comes with the automated service, you can get students to sign up for classes and then email them content. Using this mockup, you can link to youtube videos, PDF downloads, or include written course content in the body of your email.

The downside to this model is that you need to determine how to charge for the course, then you need to set up a system for your payment tool and email automation to communicate with each other, or you need to manually add it to the system after students pay.

Other tools are actually designed to serve this kind of content. The big four are Kajabi, Teachable, Thinkific, and Podia (though there are more).

Now that you know the format and tools you plan to use…it’s time to talk about the actual content you plan to offer.

Petco Online Dog & Puppy Training Courses

Here are some important considerations – first, while your competition is usually limited to other dog trainers in your area, you are competing online with any other dog trainer offering online training on the same subject. If you want to sell online dog training outside of your area, you need to have a plan in place to help you stand out from the crowd.

It would be harder if there were a lot of courses on a topic, or if there were major industry players on a topic (think separation anxiety and Malene DeMartini)

Sell stuff on that topic. This means you need to do some research to see what other online dog training options your clients have to choose from.

Niche themes may do better online than general themes. So if you offer a class on recalls or walking on loose leash, it will probably do a better job than an online pet etiquette class. It’s also a well-known way for you to become an expert on a particular subject matter… which will lead to selling more online services and being able to charge more for them.

Finally, marketing and selling online dog training can be very different from marketing and selling in-person classes. While most of the main concepts remain the same, when you go online

Online. Many in-person businesses rely heavily on local referrals — online courses will need to rely on digital referrals.

Since your customers come to you through referrals or personal referrals, you may need to create more online marketing. This may include some free content so potential customers can get to know you. That means deciding what to offer for free, not what you should charge.

You may also need to spend more time on marketing and do more work to drive traffic to your website.

Finally, your sales process may also vary. Online, you don’t want to spend too much time pitching one customer at a time. Instead, you need your website and online presence to do most of the work for you…perhaps with the occasional email to ask questions.

Whether you decide to offer online dog training long-term is ultimately up to you as a business owner. When done right, it can certainly be lucrative (Pat Flynn shared that his company made $900 in the first year of offering online courses). However, if you have traditionally provided in-person services, you will need to transform your business model.

This is true even if you offer online training options while you are at home. Selling virtual services is easier when the majority of customers’ options are online dog training or none at all. I expect sales will become more difficult as in-person options become more available again.
