Cnm Online Classes – No matter what happens with COVID-19, online learning will be a key part of the upcoming K-12 school year for every child in New Mexico. To ensure their teachers are prepared, faculty members of ‘s Teacher Education program developed a workshop that would help them design optimized virtual learning environments. Now, the New Mexico Department of Public Education wants to make this workshop available to all public school teachers.

After August 18, a self-paced online course will be available for teachers who were unable to make the in-person presentations.

The workshops themselves will cover everything from strategies for engaging students in the virtual learning environment to leveraging the virtual environment to support nuanced instruction, project-based learning, and collaborative learning. Erica says facilitators will address things like how teachers can use Zoom features like themed rooms or a chat feed to help in the online classroom and discuss issues related to equity and access.

Erica says the team realizes that starting a new school year will virtually be difficult for all teachers and hopes to help a wide range of teachers who are navigating the transition.

“We recognize that you may be a 20-year veteran teacher who has mastered the classroom environment, but thanks to these new challenges, it can feel like you’re back in your first year of teaching,” she says.

Knowing that parents will also struggle, Erica says she plans to partner with NMPED to offer online workshops for them as well. In the online environment, she says, parents are critical as virtual learning partners. They may also need a space where they can discuss the challenges they are facing and the support they need to manage work and children attending school virtually.

While everyone hopes that all elementary and high school students will soon be able to return to a full-time classroom experience, Erica says and her partners are trying to use the current situation to find creative ways to expand world-aligned educational opportunities. future our children will be living and shaping themselves.

The idea of ​​Attend Anywhere classrooms was brought up by Fang Chen. The use cases are really many. Students who don’t have time to drive to campus or need to be home can participate synchronously and still ask questions in real time. Students who do not have time to attend in person or online during class hours can attend the class afterwards and have the benefit of seeing the whiteboard where the instructor presents the information. Additionally, in-person students may choose to participate online occasionally if something happens and they are unable to attend campus. In-person students will also be able to come back and review the lecture, as well as online students, if they need extra help.

“The data clearly shows that if you can give a presentation multiple times, it’s much easier to learn the material,” says Jackie.

Instructors also benefit from Attend Anywhere Classrooms. Most importantly, instructors who teach face-to-face classes in an Attend Anywhere classroom can record their presentations for students who are sick or unable to attend and this ensures that those students are not left behind. “Attend Anywhere rooms have been a lifesaver during these pandemic times,” says Karissa Addamane, a chemistry instructor. “The ability to record lectures or have students temporarily attend remotely while in quarantine has been very helpful. Students can continue with their studies, be present virtually, and have access to their classes in ways that we underutilized before the pandemic.”
